Pray that I can be a better “good shepherd"!
As I have mentioned, my silent retreat a few weeks ago was centered upon asking God for more of the Holy Spirit to fill my heart so I can be more fruitful as a priest and a pastor.
On this Good Shepherd Sunday, I thought I would go ahead and share with you the prayer that I wrote during that time of silent prayer that I have been saying every day since then and that summarizes my desires for going deeper with God.
My hope is that at least some of this becomes a prayer for you as well or that you use this to more concretely pray for me so that I can be a better shepherd to you!
Daily Prayer for MORE
Father, thank You for Your faithfulness and mercy.
Thank you for loving me into existence and placing a high calling on my life.
Thank you for pursuing me in Your love at every moment of my life
and in this moment, though I may not feel You.
I repent of all my sins and not trusting in Your love for me;
Instead, I have acted out of selfishness, self-reliance, or fear and self-preservation.
I forgive and bless all those who have hurt me.
Father, I surrender myself and all of my burdens to You right now,
and I trust that You will take care of everything.
Jesus, You said ask anything in Your name
and believe we have already received it, and it would be done for us (Mk 11:24).
In my desperation, I cry out to You now for MORE of Your Spirit of Fire.
TRANSFORM my cold heart into Your Blazing Heart.
Open my eyes to see as You do;
Open my ears to hear more clearly Your voice;
Open my heart to be moved with Your compassion,
so that I may minister in greater authority and power.
I ask now with bold confidence for
FAITH to move any mountain,
HOPE to rejoice in any darkness,
And LOVE to cast out all fear and unlock JOY for all your children.
Holy Spirit, I beg You for a greater anointing in my life
To heal any infirmity of mind, body, or soul
To receive words of knowledge, wisdom, and prophecy to build up the Kingdom
To discern the presence of all spirits that I encounter
To work any miracle for Your glory
To speak and understand any tongue that the Gospel may be proclaimed to all people
Father, may Your Name be glorified as, together,
we break through strongholds, set captives free,
and advance your Kingdom of peace and joy to every wounded heart.
Jesus, I claim Your Promise of the Spirit right now,
and I trust that all the treasuries and resources of heaven are already open and accessible to me through You.
Holy Spirit, I resolve to move more slowly with You, attentive to Your movements and invitations.
Give me boldness in pursuing them!
Mary, I reconsecrate myself to the Trinity
through Your Immaculate Heart.
Spouse of the Holy Spirit and Mother of Pentecost,
obtain all that I ask before the throne of Your Son,
especially for revival in my heart
and in the Church for the greater glory of God. Amen!
