      Area Retreats

Behold, An Angel of the Lord
      Friday, October 18 at 5:30pm – Sunday, October 20 at 4:30pm
When God through the incarnation became man in Jesus Christ, the relationship between humans and angels changed. Angels still have the superior nature, but we have been given the grace of a more intimate friendship with God, a sharing in God’s divinity, through grace, that even the angels don’t enjoy. During this retreat, Christ’s Peace House of Prayer will be using Fr. Pascale Parente’s book, “The Angels: In Catholic Teaching and Tradition” to explore how God wants the angels to be involved in our Christian journey, and what role they are called to play in the dramatic history of our salvation. There will be conferences, spiritual direction, Eucharistic Adoration, Mass, Confession and time for private prayer, reflection and walking. To attend, fill out the Retreat Form at ChristsPeace.com or call 913.773.8255.

      Mass of the Innocents
      1 pm October 20
This Mass, celebrated by Archbishop Joseph F. Naumann at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Overland Park, recognizes the value of children who died before or shortly after birth, as well as the grief felt by their parents, grandparents and loved ones. Whether or not you have personally experienced this loss, you are welcome to come commemorate these little ones and offer prayerful support to their families. Light refreshments to follow mass.

Together, Becoming an Amazing Parish in Rural Kansas

Archbishop Naumann interviews Fr. Jaime Zarse, the former pastor of Sacred Heart in Sabetha, St. Augustine in Fidelity and St. James in Wetmore, and his team Annie Deters, Greta Heiman, and Gina Sallman about their experience in cultivating an Amazing Parish.

Amazing Parish is a movement in the Church that gives busy pastors coaching to form effecting leadership teams and improve the organization health of the parish, and then provides pastors and their teams the tools they need to transform their parishes—moving from maintenance mode to mission communities that are truly alive.
