I joined the Catholic Church because the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass is Jesus Christ’s offering of himself in love for the life of the world. In my protestant upbringing, I believed that God is incarnational, but I did not know that He is also sacramental.
Through coming to believe that the Holy Eucharist is the Body and Blood of our Lord Jesus, my appreciation for St. Paul’s message in Philippians 2:5-11 has grown immensely. St. Paul speaks about the humble self-emptying of Christ’s crucifixion, and that same humble self-gift is offered in the Holy Mass. Let us celebrate the Feast of Corpus Christi by focusing on the Lord’s gift of himself in the Holy Eucharist.
