Father's Reflection 5.19.24

Happy Pentecost!

My greatest desire as a pastor is that we are more and more radically transformed into Jesus by the fire of the Holy Spirit. 

Holiness/becoming saints/friendship with Jesus is primarily the work of Holy Spirit rather than the result of our effort or will power.

My concrete suggestion for us to stir up the Holy Spirit in our hearts and live in His power and will for our life is saying this simple prayer throughout the day, especially at the beginning of our next task/meeting or when we run into a dead end or challenge:

COME, HOLY SPIRIT!

This is the three word prayer that God always answers and changes our life from “my will be done” to “thy will be done.”

“If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”

May we learn to live with more radical docility and surrender to the power of the Holy Spirit in our lives!
