There have been several watershed moments that have occurred during my time in Nemaha, but none greater than Archbishop Naumann’s Enflame Convocation in October 2019. The convocation was put on by the Office of Evangelization, Archbishop Naumann, and many of the priests of the Archdiocese. The focus of the convocation was to invoke the Holy Spirit upon the Archdiocese of Kansas City, Kansas, while igniting a new Pentecost. And friends, that is precisely where everything began for me as your pastor. Before that convocation my leadership was on maintenance mode i.e. paying the bills, replacing hvac's, toilets, lights, the Church roof and parking lot etc. After the convocation, everything began to change. Looking back now, it is obvious to me that this was the moment that changed everything. So many of the initiatives and movements that we have been apart of for the last few years (Amazing Parish Movement, Communio, etc.) were born out of this convocation. Our Come and See initiative, which is directly tied to relationship ministry, was born of this convocation. In short, Archbishop Naumann’s convocation changed my life. Not all at once and not over night. Slowly, steadily, there was an unfolding of grace that was undoubtedly tied to the seeds that were planted in October 2019. Such a gift. And what an unbelievable ride it is has been since then. A ride which has forever changed my life. To be continued.
